Relay
RELAY

How It Works

Clarity at every step

From first request to completed job, Relay removes ambiguity for both sides of the transaction.

For Consumers

Find and connect in four steps

01

Tell us what you need

Type a natural-language request — "custom birthday cake," "HVAC service call," "bathroom tiling quote" — or pick a category.

02

Fill out the smart form

Relay surfaces a category-specific applet tailored to your request: dimensions, budget range, timeline, and other details that matter for that job. No generic text boxes.

03

Get matched instantly

Your structured request is broadcast to vetted local businesses in your area. You receive confirmation and, typically, a response within minutes.

04

Close the deal

Review the match, confirm the details, and connect directly. Relay earns a small commission only when the deal closes — no fees to you.

For Businesses

Receive ready-to-close leads

01

Apply to join the network

Tell us your category, service area, and capacity. We review and onboard qualified businesses in Fairfield County, CT.

02

Receive structured leads

When a consumer submits a request that matches your profile, you receive a fully specified, BANT-qualified lead in real time — no chasing vague inquiries.

03

Accept or pass

Every detail is visible upfront: scope, budget intent, timeline, and location. Accept jobs that fit your capacity; skip ones that don't.

04

Close and earn

Complete the job, close the deal, and Relay earns a ~10% commission on the transaction. No subscription. No per-lead fees.

Frequently asked questions

What areas does Relay serve?

Currently Norwalk, CT and surrounding towns within ~15 miles: Darien, Wilton, Fairfield, Westport, and Stamford. We're focused on depth before breadth.

What categories are supported?

Custom cakes & bakeries, plumbing, HVAC, tiling, and catering/events. More categories are added as we recruit qualified partner businesses.

Is Relay free for consumers?

Yes. Consumers pay nothing to submit a request or get matched. Relay earns a commission from the business side only when a deal closes.

How is Relay different from Google or Yelp?

Search engines and directories return a list of options and leave the rest to you. Relay structures your request upfront, pre-qualifies it, and delivers it to one matched business — so you get a real response, not a list.

What happens if no business in my area can fulfill my request?

We log the unmatched demand, notify you that we're working to recruit a partner, and use that data to bring the right business on board faster.

How is the commission calculated?

Relay charges the business approximately 10% of the transaction value when a deal closes. There's no fee to consumers and no listing fee to businesses.
